Some of My (recent) Favourite Things

I didn't do a January favourites so I thought I'd do this instead. January was a miserable month, the weather's seriously aggravated my pain so I've been looking for ways to try to cheer myself up. And one thing I've been doing is pampering my face. I first mentioned Shu Uemura oil-in-gel cleanser (1here, it's become one of my favourite cleansers and I've just repurchased it. It suit my sensitive skin perfectly, I highly recommend it.

Philosophy's The Great Mystery Daily Facial* (2) is another product that leaves my skin feeling pampered and cleansed, it promises the results of a facial in one minute and I have to say I'm quite impressed so far. I'll do a full review in a bit.

I love Laura Mercier's Silk Creme foundation (3), it gives great coverage without looking heavy. Initially I was unsure of this, but lately I can't get enough of it. I even prefer it over Nars Sheer Glow at the moment, yeh I know.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery (4) is such a nice product, it stops my face becoming dehydrated and doesn't irritate my skin (I'll update my progress with this properly soon).

Essie In Stitches (5is such a pretty colour, it's a muted dusky rose with mauve undertones (I think that covers it).

And now for something completely different....

Recently I've been thinking about further study, either an MPhil or PhD. I completed my MA in Art History around a year a go and since then I've been taking a break to concentrate on my health. But, it's kind of boring so I've been returning to my books. Studying is a way for me to escape from my chronic pain and the lovely treats *cough* that come with that. It's still very early days and tuition is EXTORTIONATE so that might be a bit of a barrier.

Also, I'd love some recommendations on any fiction you've read recently, it doesn't have to be new, just good, thanks!

Have a lovely Sunday.

  1. I have been eyeing up the Laura Mercier foundation ever since I fell in love with the tinted moisturiser which has become my holy grail product. That Essie polish looks stunning, plus its a shade I am not familiar with. Shall definitely check that out when next in Boots! Great post!

    1. Thanks! I havent tried the tinted moisturiser yet, I'm thinking about getting it in the Spring/Summer though. I really love the Essie shade, it's kind of understated but 'stylish' x

  2. In stitches is also one of my all time favourite :)
The khiels serum sounds fab - I'm a sucker for serums, definitively adding it to my list

    1. it's such a lovely colour! Essie always do great colours. I've been using Kiehls for around 5 weeks now (I think) and I'm only a couple of millimeters from the top. One of the things I really like about it though is that it doesnt irritate my skin, I'm always a bit wary of serums but this is great for my really sensitive skin x
